FLUORESCENCE GUIDED SURGERY
Fluorescence refers to the ability of some atoms and molecules to absorb light at a particular wavelength (of excitation: Ex) and then to emit light of a longer wavelength during a short-lived emission (Em). This means:
- Fluorescence allows us to assess blood flow in tissues very well, e.g. anastomosis visualization
- In the case of tumors, a good visibility of the tumor boundery, so that an exact removal is possible without opening the tumor. The risk of tumor cells spre
